Tower Climber and Rescue

Authorized Tower Climber

This course is designed for new climbers who have not been exposed to the use of fall protection equipment before or have limited experience. This course is a foundation for climbers to understand and demonstrate the mechanics and performance of each piece of fall protection equipment used on site. Authorized Climbers typically use pre-established fall protection systems and are not responsible for selecting anchorages or systems. The Authorized Climber knows how the equipment works but may not have the in-depth knowledge to determine what fall protection should be initially established. Authorized Climbers must work closely with Competent Climbers or Competent Rescuers. This course will be comprised of both classroom theory and practical exercises on various fall protection systems, tower climbing techniques and the importance of rescue planning and emergency action plans. Pre-requisites for Authorized Climber Training: must be employed by a company, and the company must deem the employee is medically fit and capable of climbing.

Authorized/Competent Tower Climber and Rescue

This course is designed for experienced climbers who have supervisory level responsibilities on the job site. This course augments the authorized tower climber course through the following: applicable rescue regulations; fall hazard assessments and fall protection procedures; detailed inspection of fall protection and rescue equipment components and systems; determining when systems are unsafe; calculated clearances for various systems; fall protection rescue procedures and the selection and use of non-certified anchorages. This course is comprised of both classroom theory and practical exercises.
